Tasks/Competencies/Responsibilities:
Second Level BSC, RNC, RXI, TRC & BSS Technical Support as it relates to 2G & 3G System Operations, System Optimization, BSC & BSS Parameters, and Established KPI’s.
Main Tasks:
· Fault analysis, isolation and repair recommendations of RNC / BSC /
RXI and RAN related equipment to module level, providing TAC 2 BSC and BSS support to Operations and Engineering Teams.
· Liaison with Internal Team members, consultants and customers during
service testing and fault clearance.
· Perform routine audits of network statistics recommending remedial
action where necessary, and provide sound evaluation of the performance of the network.
· Pre and Post review and verification of software and minor hardware
upgrades.
· Provide support during acceptance testing of RNC / BSC / RXI and
other RAN related network expansions and enhancements. Perform MVV Tests as and when needed.
· Network counter analysis and monitoring to ensure network stability
and performance using Performance Management Tool.
· Create reports from BSC, RNC, RXI, and TRC daily statistics, and
parameter change data.
· Perform daily, weekly, and monthly routine operations of BSCs, RNCs,
RXIs, and TRCs
· Use TEMS equipment and other testing tools like NET TEST Protocol
Analyzer to analyze network problems.
· Write processes and procedures for fault finding, analyzing and
clearing BSC, RNC, RXI, and TRC equipment and software.
· Manage projects from time to time as they relate to the roll out of
new BSC, RNC, RXI, and TRC additions and upgrades.
· Any other tasks as directed by manager that fall within the scope of
the employees training and skill set.
Required skills/ business experience
Experience working in the GSM Telecommunications industry, in the Operations of BSCs, RNCs, RXIs, TRCs, 2G & 3G Base Station Equipment, and related OMC operations and fields. Good knowledge of IP fundamentals is essential.
Education:
Engineering Degree and a minimum of 4 years experience working in the areas of 2G & 3G GSM system operations, optimization or OMC operations. Extensive Computer Skills are required Behaviours Teamwork Communications skills Able to work unsupervised and to demanding project schedules Quality and cost orientated Customer focused
